Outside Magazine | Tommy Rivs

Honestly…..I’ve been thinking of what to write here for a few months……I still am not even sure. I thought something would come to me, or I would know how to approach this blog post or situation, however I guess time does not fix all things. I will give a touch of writing here……but if you want the whole story or are in the mood to be inspired….check out the Outside TV / Outside Magazine piece on Tommy Rivs and Stephanie Catudal.

So to give the short story….Tommy Rivs is like the most bad-ass ultra runner around. He known world wide for his feats of long distance running. He was on a run in 2021 when his life changed forever. It was for the fact that he gave up his water to some lost hikers while he was out on a run. Normally this would have been no biggie for Tommy who knew how much water his body needed to get back home some 15 miles away or something and selflessly gave up his supplies to a lost group while providing them directions back. On his way back home Tommy knew something was wrong with his body…….and Stephanie and Tommy thought he just had Covid-19 and he hung in the basement for a while with breathing problems. Eventually after things got worse Steph took him to the hospital where they found out he had cancer in his lungs. He’s been working even harder than ever before to regain his life and the ways it use to be.

Hanging with Tommy and Stephanie and their beautiful family was an inspiring few days to say the least. Steph had me in tears a few times, and so did Tommy. They are great humans and it was an honor to capture a few moments with them and their family.

Thanks to Outside TV and Outside Magazine for having me out on this one.

And thank you Tommy & Steph for the inspiration and wisdom they shared of their lives.
